All books online!

Working during Covid-19:

Now that I can no longer go outside to source, I have been able to focus on other (also important) projects.

Last year I had already timidly tried to sell books via my own online platform. That was not a great success. The reason was mainly that you cannot compete with a bol.com or Amazon.

And if your offer at that moment only covers 600 books, then you don't jump far. So after 3 months without having sold 1 book I closed the online store.

But the online store kept slumbering in the background and so I decided to restart this project in mid-March. Due to the "stay at home" story, I obviously couldn't source multiple times a week. So I started from scratch with the online store and listed books daily. It took 6 weeks before all books were listed. But what surprised me the most was that after 2 weeks, when more than 1,000 books were already listed, I received my first orders. And in the month of April this tripled! Is this enough? No, certainly not, but it covers the costs of the online store.

What is the range of books?

Today I made a list of the offer that you can find on www.thekingofbooks.com . And I am very proud of that! You will find 30 categories with a total of 5,822 books! These are all premium second-hand books and some new books. I will gradually increase the category "new books". In the course of this week I will receive 140 new books, fresh from the press, of which half will go to bol.com and the other half will be for sale on www.thekingofbooks.com . You will find on bol.com, booksinbelgium , boekwinkeltjes.nl and soon on amazon.nl, all the books that are also on www.thekingofbooks.com.

Customer is king:

Every day it is a challenge for us to be able to offer the best service to our customers. Unfortunately, we also have to deal with the consequences of Covid-19. Normally we deliver within 2 to 3 working days, but the parcel services are so overwhelmed by the supply that the delivery time tends more towards 3 to 5 working days. We therefore ask for your understanding.

Still I was happy this morning when I found an email from bol.com in my inbox in which they congratulated me on the good service. The King of Books was rewarded with the "Golden Label"!

Needless to say, purchases through our online store will receive the same service and attention as the service we have to get from bol.com.

So, don't be afraid that we won't honor our agreements. We can't afford it and it's not in our DNA to treat purchases through our online store less well.
