Tiuri is almost a knight. One more night separates him from the knighthood. He must spend this last night in seclusion and absolute silence. Just then a cry for help is heard. The letter for the king has been published in 30 languages. It is the first Dutch-language book to be filmed by Netflix.
The Letter for the King was awarded the Prize for the Best Children's Book of the Year 1963, and the Griffel der Griffels 1955–2004. In 1976, Tonke Dragt was awarded the State Prize for Children's Literature.
