The Color of Poverty: Poverty Among People of Foreign Origin
People of foreign origin are disadvantaged in important areas such as employment, education and housing. Does this mean that they are also confronted with a higher risk of poverty? In this book, the authors investigate whether there is an unequal distribution of the risk of poverty according to origin and what this looks like in Belgium. People of Moroccan or Turkish origin in particular appear to have a very high risk of poverty: approximately half of them are income poor. But what lies behind these figures? More insight into the specificity and commonality of poverty processes and situations among people of Belgian origin and of foreign origin is necessary.
