This text and photo book shows how nature still occupies a very central place for the African rural population. This is in contrast to the prevailing idea that the African population is becoming increasingly alienated from nature.
This book is an exploration of the different indigenous cultures, in relation to nature and the 'modern world'. How do these people survive, and what is their attitude towards nature conservation and tourism?
The photos and text complement each other. While a number of African writers tell stories about and by people, the photos bring these stories to life visually.
