The hippopotamus

Edward Wallace is a failed poet and theatre critic, and a bitter, whiskey-soaked womanizer... and those are his good points. He's just been fired from his newspaper, is months behind on his alimony payments, and is disgusted by a world that doesn't appreciate him. In search of peace and quiet and free booze, the muddy pachyderm heads off for a few months to the country house of his old friend Lord Logan, to whose beautiful and mysterious son he is godfather.
