On Saturday night, March 21, 2020, a five-meter-high image of a militant angel appeared out of nowhere on the facade of Boekhandel Broekhuis in Enschede. It was followed by a powerful word of comfort. The first cases of infection by the unknown virus were a fact and people in the Netherlands also held their breath. More than ever, words of hope, fighting spirit and resilience proved to offer support in uncertain times. Authors, poets and publicists thus let their encouraging words speak. In total, 90 thinkers, doers and interpreters ultimately delivered 100 projected contributions. These are all included in this book. More than a third of all these contributions flowed from a Twente pen. The rest came from other parts of the country and from foreign cities, which suddenly seemed infinitely far away.
