The Emperor and the Lion

The main character, Ronny Vleugels, describes the death struggle of his father, Fonne from sports, and the arrogant behavior of the doctors in the hospital. In order to get rid of his frustrations, Ronny delves into the past. The admiration for his father, asthma problems, puppy love and football are a common thread through his youth. In addition to Jeanine from Dikke Lies, he has more than the usual interest in his nieces. The great difference between the post-war lifestyle of the 'farmers from the country' (Pijpelheide, Booischot) and the posh city people (Berchem) is very strongly depicted.
