Walter Dabney is a loving husband and father of four daughters. He runs a successful business and lives a life that many would envy. Then the unthinkable happens. Outside the FBI headquarters in Washington DC, Dabney shoots schoolteacher Anne Berkshire in cold blood in broad daylight, then turns the gun on himself. One of the many witnesses is Amos Decker, a man who never forgets and sees what most others miss. Stunned by this seemingly inexplicable murder, he throws himself into the investigation. Decker is part of a special task force within the FBI, and he and his colleagues delve into the lives of Dabney and Berkshire, searching for a connection that seems nonexistent. What they do find are secrets that lead them to an impending attack - one that puts Decker and his team right in the firing line...
