The promise of the wolves

10,99 21,00

The story begins 14,000 years ago, in Southern Europe. One fateful day, the young and inexperienced she-wolf Kaala, born into a mixed-blood wolf pack, witnesses the banishment of her mother and the brutal murder of her brothers and sisters. Alone in the world, Kaala has no choice but to join the Swift River pack – and then she must literally fight for her life to secure her place in the pack and thus her future. Despite all obstacles and trials, Kaala succeeds. Things go wrong again when Kaala and her young companions approach human children, play with them and go hunting with them, because by doing so they risk banishment from the pack. On one of these excursions, Kaala saves a human child from drowning, with all the consequences that entails. Not long after, Kaala discovers that her destiny in life is to keep an eye on people and ensure that they do not lose their bond and contact with nature. To accomplish this task, she must find a solution to a striking contradiction: although the wolf always seeks the company of man, it is impossible for man to tolerate the company of the wolf for long. Because every time the two come closer together, it leads to quarrels and fights. Fortunately, Kaala finds support in the story of the legendary she-wolf Lydda, who in the distant past managed to bring the wolf and man together.
