Mercy cuts her blonde hair and dyes it black. She feels lost and alone, now that she has moved again with her mother Pearl and her aunt Moo and has to get used to a new school. Pearl languishes in her room, while Moo seeks refuge in alcohol and fortune telling. Fortunately, Mercy still has her job at the florist and Andrea. But the prospect that Aunt Moo's boyfriend will soon move back in casts a dark shadow over Mercy's future.
