In the seventies they meet on sunny Aruba: Lo, the aspiring filmmaker, and Grace, who wants to be an actress. In the era of false freedoms and post-engagement, they study in Amsterdam. There too, things go wrong between them. But the island gives them a second chance: not only to love each other, but also to improve the world, starting in the Caribbean. Gradually, the differences prove too great, both in culture and in character. Decades later, Lo makes a film about an old artist couple, one from the Antilles and one from the Netherlands. Grace seeks him out with the obvious question: why did you reunite us?
