Following Apelles: Renaissance Drawings from the Southern Netherlands from Private Collections in Antwerp

Artists enjoyed great respect in the 16th century: they led flourishing studios, travelled throughout Europe and worked for domestic and foreign clients. Their oeuvre also consisted of drawings, a genre that then developed into an independent art form. The Mayer van den Bergh Museum is presenting for the first time some forty unique Renaissance drawings from private collections in Antwerp.
