To speak with certainty about Someone who 'apparently' does not exist: it does not fit into the canon of our time. Yet Herwig Arts speaks about God, to God. In his diary he is particularly open and quick-witted about what he could clearly sense or understand.
Just as a self-respecting woman does not offer herself for observation or scrutiny by potentially interested parties, so it is naive to assume that God offers himself to any noncommittal outsider.
The realization that in a purely functional society no one is irreplaceable has made me realize that there is Someone who needs me.
