The Man Who Went on a Journey
Patrick, a croupier in a casino in Normandy, is all set for the journey. He lives alone in an almost empty rented flat - as little baggage as possible, he is leaving anyway. He still lacks a time and a destination, but he is certain that he will travel. He has just bought a suitcase, made of hard material, impregnated polypropylene. After all, his suitcase must command respect from the hunters of luxury hotels: 'Not that I will visit such hotel companies, certainly not, but in a manner of speaking'. Patrick's next purchase is a white tropical suit and after careful selection he buys a book for the journey. The next step is an extensive vaccination programme. Now he still needs to write his letter of resignation to the casino, they will be surprised! In the meantime, time marches on...
