Amsterdam, 2008. Jan, a specialist in ancient languages, is asked to attend the opening of a 3000 year old testament. This special event marks the start of a historical investigation into one of the greatest mysteries of human civilization: the city of Atlantis.
Jan studies ancient texts by Aristotle and Plato, delves into the physics research of Antonie van Leeuwenhoek and looks for clues in the paintings of Vermeer and Rembrandt. But what starts as a historical investigation soon moves to the here and now. His search takes a tragic turn when he discovers that his mother's death during an archaeological dig in Crete was not an accident. And with that discovery, a world of violence and mystery opens up.
