Eva's Secrets
It is 1944, Austria is governed by the Third Reich. Eva lives in Vienna and works for the regional church council. An apparently obedient life, but in her home she has been hiding people for months. No one really knows Eva, no one knows her past that she is forced to keep quiet about. She also hides her pain and loneliness. Her husband has fled the country. Her sons are stationed in the Soviet Union, that contact has also been broken. Eva passively fulfills what she considers her duty. And then she meets Walter, who goes into hiding with her. In him she recognizes a kindred spirit to whom she seeks rapprochement. Eva's Secrets is an oppressive autobiographical novel, in which the author honors her courageous grandmother and gives a face to those who are forced to flee by war.
