Goring: the biography
Hermann Göring was a key figure in the Third Reich. He was responsible for the reconstruction of the German air force, was the founder of the Gestapo and the one who gave the written order for the Endlosung. Hitler created the highest military rank of Reichsmarschall especially for Göring. He was also allowed to call himself the official deputy of the Führer. Göring was a man of many faces. His desire for pomp and circumstance knew no bounds, like a king dressed in gala uniforms and laden with medals and jewels he paraded in his many castles. He was conceited, cunning, brutal like no other follower of Hitler and yet Göring was more popular in Germany than all other Nazi leaders, for a time even more beloved than Hitler himself. Göring deceptively embodied the jovial face of the Third Reich, hiding the inhuman features of his character behind affability.
