Brian Jackson is young and goes to college. Armed with his deceased father's brown corduroy jacket and his mother's book 'Toveren met gehakt' (Tovereen with minced meat), Brian leaves for university. It is 1985. Brian succeeds in seducing a rich girl. He is even allowed to go to Alice's house, where he desperately tries to hide his shortcomings. He qualifies for participation in the popular TV quiz 'University Challenge'. But Alice cheats on him. Brian is furious. He starts an argument and becomes deeply troubled by the answers to all the quiz questions.
