The Web Around Bin Laden: America's Dubious Game
How does the leader of Al-Qaeda keep escaping and what interest does the US government have in this?
French journalist Sifaoui followed (literally) the trail of Osama Bin Laden and spoke to people who know and protect him. He outlines the development of the person Bin Laden and the rise of the Islam movement. Sifaoui follows Bin Laden on his flight after 11-9-2001 and discovers how he repeatedly manages to escape from elite troops who are hunting him down. It also becomes clear how the American government manipulates a phenomenon like Islamism.
Investigations in Pakistan and Afghanistan provide a series of indications that the White House is deliberately delaying the capture of bin Laden. Why? One possible reason is that the capture of bin Laden would be most convenient in the fall of 2004: on the third anniversary of nine-eleven, in the midst of the battle for the American presidential election.
