Jimmy's notes

During the interbellum, Blankenberge was a coastal town with two different worlds: the poor fishing population that huddled together in a few poor streets at the harbour basin and the ostentatious world of hotels and art deco villas on the Zeedijk, the bourgeoisie, the European nobility and bankers who came there on annual holidays. 'Jimmy's Notes' is the story of Jimmy (Florimont Waeghe), a fisherman's son with an exceptional musical talent, who grows up in these crisis years between the two world wars. His father Tino is a collaborator, but in an almost surreal way Jimmy gets to know Esther, a Jewish girl from Brussels who comes to sing jazz in the chic Casino-Kursaal during the season in the company of famous orchestras. The events bring him to Brussels where a completely different world opens up for him, one of poetry, jazz, resistance against the German occupier. With his music he will make a historic contribution to saving dozens of Jewish lives. 'Jimmy's Notes' is a fictional, funny and moving story - based on true events - about jazz music, friendship, love, war, collaboration, persecution of Jews, self-sacrifice.
