Art theft
Dias, an ex-guerrilla, ex-husband, ex-art dealer and ex-convict, ends up in Kunstroof by chance in Falmignoul, a hole in the Ardennes where an international art biennial is about to start. Police officer Renard manages to convince him to work there as a security guard. His opponent is art crook Tony Leroy, who has it in for a series of American modernists, including the famous Mark Rothko. When Dias drives a truck with stolen paintings into the wreckage, the wreck, wedged in the gate, serves as the proverbial cork on the bottle. The crooks take a dozen hostages and barricade themselves in the castle. Outside, an overwhelming force of police, press and disaster tourists gather. Nobody intends to miss a single thing of this live show. In this explosive atmosphere, Dias does what he is good at.
