Sofia Solanas is the daughter of the wealthy Argentine horse breeder Paco Solanas and an Irish country girl, Anna Melody O Dwyer. With her mixture of Argentine and Irish blood, Sofia is not exactly a lady. Her wildness and her beauty make her very popular with everyone, except her mother. The vivacious and cheerful Sofia often clashes with the deeply religious Anna, who sees God's will in everything. Sofia is fond of horse riding and very skilled in the noble sport of polo - a sport for men. She often plays with her brothers and cousins. Santi, the son of Paco's brother, finds her very amusing. Her untamedness and her sudden outbursts make her very different from other girls. More than friendship, more than a family bond grows between Sofia and Santi. But they both know that although they may be meant for each other, they will never get each other.
