A sympathetic, sweet wife, a six-year-old son, a beautiful house and a dream job as a lawyer at his father-in-law's prestigious firm: Frank O'Connell's living seemed to be bought in every respect. Yet he gives it all up for pro bono law, defending drug dealers and prostitutes, until the seductive and therefore very convincing jet-setter Ashley Bronson persuades him to take on her case. She is accused of murdering a former minister. To Frank's amazement, she immediately confesses: the ex-politician is said to have driven her father to suicide. Frank doesn't understand it, feels used and, with the help of professional detective Walter Feinberg, delves into the past of the Bronsons and their powerful friends. They end up in a cesspool of secrets, until Frank receives support from a very unexpected corner...
