Four Love Letters
When I was twelve, God spoke to my father for the first time. God didn't say much. He told my father to be a painter and left it at that, then took his place among the angels and looked out through the clouds over the gray city to see what would happen next.'
This is how the small family drama begins, set in the Irish town of Galway, where a family tries to survive. The father makes paintings, the mother is a drinker, the children run away from home, but eventually return. Parents and children each tell their own story. They are love letters, in which their personality and their love for life and the Irish countryside are anchored. In these letters, different forms of love - marital love, love for God, love for children and romantic love - are given their own voice.
