175 stamps

Stamps are largely a mirror of ourselves. They tell us what we find important, pleasant, beautiful or interesting, but also what image we want to convey of ourselves. Since the 'Leopold with the epaulettes' of 1849, they follow styles and mentalities, cultural, economic and political developments. That is why they are also extremely suitable to tell our history. Of the more than three thousand stamps that De Post has issued to date, Marie-Anne Wilssens used 175 as a window on 175 years of Belgium. The result is a colourful mosaic of large and small events, which together sketch the well-being of our country in an accessible way.
