"Annelies Marie (Anne) Frank (Frankfurt am Main, 12 June 1929 – Bergen-Belsen, (probably) February 1945) was a Jewish girl from Germany who became famous for the diary she wrote during the Second World War, when she was in hiding in Amsterdam. She died of exhaustion and/or typhus in the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp. Her diary was published posthumously and is one of the most read books in the world. Anne Frank is included in the Canon of the Netherlands as one of the fifty themes of Dutch history.
