Wellens and trivia: with the Fidea team through the field
Cyclocross, a minor sport? From America to Japan, 36 million people saw Erwin Vervecken become world champion in Hooglede. One in six Flemings watched the race live, saw Belgian champion Bart Wellens ride to fourth place with a broken wrist. Cyclocrossers are tough. Snow, mud, heat, sand, they don't care. They race when the road cyclists are tired, but they do cycle all year round. The arrival of Fidea brings team play to this individual sport.
