The last wild animals

Twelve-year-old Kester lives in a world where all animals have been wiped out. Or so he thinks. Then he meets a group of talking pigeons and a bossy cockroach ('The General'). They urgently need his help: there are still a few animals alive, but they are sick. Together with a red deer, an enthusiastic wolf, a haughty cat, a dancing pygmy mouse and the girl Polly, Kester sets off on a dangerous mission. It becomes a race against time, because they are being chased by the vengeful Captain Skuldiss, who wants to wipe out all animals for good...
