Liar
The psychological thriller Liegbeest by Jet van Vuuren is about Jochem Nijhoff: wealthy, forty-three, a lawyer and a ball. Together with his former classmates from the Utrecht student corps, he is looking forward to their fifth lustrum, which this time will be celebrated in his country house on the Veluwe. However, not everything goes as festively as planned. Just before the lustrum, one of his fellow students falls off his horse and dies. The police have doubts about the cause of death and an investigation follows. Shortly afterwards, Jochem receives death threats and the other classmates also receive strange text messages indicating that anyone could be the next victim.
Jochem instructs his secretary Roos to find a reliable cleaning lady for his weekend party. A woman who will clean up the mess left by him and his friends and who will also keep her mouth shut. That woman is Hannah, an acquaintance of Roos. Hannah is divorced, almost the same age as Roos and a single mother with a large mortgage. Jochem pays well and Hannah can use the money.
