Adoptive parents, adoptees, care providers, experts, no one minces their words Adoption has many faces. It is often a difficult journey with obstacles and injuries for parents and children. But they are all looking for one thing: connection. Sometimes that works, sometimes not at all. In the latter case, adoption is a source of frustration and sadness. Whatever happens, adoptive parents continue to work with all their heart on the happiness of their child. But compensating for what their child missed before birth or in the first months of life is not always possible. The mental, emotional or physical damage can be permanent. Then professional support is needed. Aftercare and tailor-made assistance are inadequate or almost non-existent. Both parents and children are left out in the cold. There is an urgent need for government initiatives. Care providers and experts are sounding the alarm.
