Detective Jessica (Jessy) Haider experiences periods of intense grief and mourning, but also of helpless rage after the death of her son. Nick was murdered by a psychopath whom she had put behind bars years earlier and since his escape the man seems to have only one goal: to ruin her life.
After a forced leave, Jessy has to prove that she can handle her job again. The sixteen-year-old daughter of a nursery family seems to have committed suicide. It soon becomes clear that the girl had every reason to live and the detective does not believe in suicide. Jessy dives into the life of the nursery family, but has a hidden agenda: she seizes the case to track down the tormentor who murdered her son.
