Muslims among us

One of the most spectacular cultural and religious changes of the last thirty years in Western Europe, is the recent immigration of Muslims. Islam is no longer foreign, but right among us. This evolution made us think about multi-religiosity and multi-culture, about dialogue between Christianity and other religions, and in particular Islam. Islam is becoming more and more visible through places of worship and mosques, in most schools in Flanders and the Netherlands there are Muslims as classmates in primary and higher education mixed marriages bring our own families into direct contact with Muslims. Media offer us flashes of Islamic religion and culture. The intention of this short introduction to Islam is to bring the fragments of information together in coherent topics.
