'The year 2000 was blessed for two reasons. Firstly, because a single Y2K doomsday scenario had come true. Secondly, because this mass hysteria made me buy three Rotring markers, determined to draw cartoons from then on. An hour or two later I proudly showed the result to my spouse and offspring. When asked what my next cartoon would be, I did not know the answer. I assumed that it was impossible to come up with a joke more than once a month and that cartoonists therefore earned a month's wage per cartoon. My expectations could not have been further removed from reality. However, it did not prevent me from looking back on a rich collection of work twenty years later.'
