Albert Speer: a biography

7,99 20,00

Who was Albert Speer? Here are the facts. Speer came from a family of architects and was born in 1905. He also studied architecture - and became Hitler's favorite architect in the 1930s. Among other things, he was involved in the architectural design of the new Berlin, which would be renamed Germania after Germany's final victory. In 1942 he became Minister of Armaments - with great success. After the war he was sentenced to twenty years in prison at the Nuremberg trials in 1946.
And there are the contradictions. He may have been the Minister of Armaments, but he soon stopped believing in the victory of the Third Reich. He found Hitler's hatred of Jews foolish, but he took no offense at it. Everywhere he saw corruption and egotism among those in power, but he did little about it. He was the only Nazi criminal to confess at the Nuremberg trials.
