Basja and her brother: children from Poland

9,99 18,00

Basja and her brother Salo live with their family in Poland. When Basja is seven, the family emigrates to the Netherlands. They live in poverty because there is high unemployment. When they join an association of people from Eastern Europe, Basja and Salo feel happier. But then the Second World War puts an end to everything. Salo is the first to receive a call to be taken away. He can go into hiding with a farmer. Basja and her parents are taken from their beds by German soldiers in the middle of the night. Basja's father decides at the last moment that Basja will not go.
'You stay here, Basjenka! Hide above, under the coals. You will find a solution! I will not take you to hell.' She is not yet thirteen. This is the beginning of a journey in which Basja, despite all the danger, manages to survive.
