Claustrum
A heat wave, an insect plague, an attack, an exceptionally heavy storm. The residents of Ostend are kept awake at night. The climate problems and extremism seem to be getting out of control. Is a new flood disaster threatening the city by the sea? Is the mayor being dethroned by the intrigues of an extreme right-wing politician? And who are the assailants of a scientist who has a strong opinion on climate issues and migration? When the city council asks priest Gilles Perrier to supervise the repurposing of two monasteries, it seems to be going quite well, until radicalisation and hysteria raise their heads there too. For the perfidious Groeningefront, represented in the city council by Renaat Vanwynsberghe, all means are good to sabotage innovative initiatives and destabilise democratic politicians. And then there is Gilles's unworldly colleague, who is said to have had a heavenly appearance and is determined to save Christian civilisation.
