Dancing for your life
The moving life story of the crowd favorite of So You Think You Can Dance, Meysam Noori. Meysam fled Afghanistan when he was eight years old with his mother, younger brother and sister. Without a father, because he, like his older brother, was murdered by the Taliban. He landed at Schiphol and decided there and then: this is where my life begins. As the eldest son, he immediately became the man of the family, which brought with it a lot of responsibilities. Kung fu films sparked his interest in martial arts, and he learned not only the traditional movements, but also all kinds of somersaults and tricks. He participated in and won tournaments, and that's how a dance group caught his eye. Dancing quickly became his passion and second nature. Against his mother's wishes, he continued dancing and sought his way in the dance world. He traveled around, followed workshops, danced in live shows and was admitted to the dance school of Lucia Marthas. Meysam made a name for himself, but his mother still didn't believe in his future as a dancer. So he signed up for So You Think You Can Dance, where he quickly became the crowd favorite and finished third. Meysam's future looks bright, and his mother... is very proud.
