The Thousand
Ten years after the unsolved murder of her father, the prominent composer Solomon Gold, who is also artistic director of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Canada Gold returns to her hometown for a seemingly strange assignment. In Las Vegas, where she fled after her father's death, her extraordinary gifts - an unlimited memory and unparalleled mathematical abilities - have earned her a questionable reputation at the poker tables, in the courts and in the casinos.
Once in Chicago, Canada discovers a connection between her father's murder and a secret society called The Thousand, a hidden group of powerful individuals who perpetuate an ancient science and tradition: the secret teachings of Pythagoras. Her parents had ties to The Thousand, and Canada unwittingly finds herself caught in the middle of a murderous battle between two factions: those who want to use her, and those who want to kill her.
