The Human Life Cycle: An Introduction to Developmental Psychology

12,99 25,00

Psychologist Pol Craeynest, lecturer at the Department of Social Higher Education of the Katho, provides an overview in this book of the most important developments that occur in the human life cycle. While in traditional developmental psychology the attention is often focused one-sidedly on the period of childhood, Craeynest explicitly chooses in this book to treat the entire life cycle. All phases of life are discussed: from the very beginning in the womb, via the various phases in childhood and youth, to the adult phases and the developments in early and old age.
Of course, Craeynest bases himself on the most important research data and theories from developmental psychology. However, in this book he mainly wants to sketch a very concrete and recognizable picture of the uniqueness of each phase of life. Only in the introductory chapter is the emphasis more on the theory: a number of
theoretical perspectives and discussion topics are discussed to familiarize the reader with the general framework and conceptual apparatus of developmental psychology.
The book is fluently written and grew out of Craeynest's practice of teaching in higher education. It is mainly aimed at students and graduates from social, pedagogical and paramedical higher education. In short: for non-specialists in psychology at HBO level.
In this second, revised edition, a thorough text correction took place and some substantive additions were added. In addition, quite a few clarifications were made from teaching practice and an explanatory glossary and index were added.
