File X: Memoirs of a Spy
Were there American nuclear weapons on Dutch soil? And if so, are they still there after the fall of the Wall? This is information that is considered a state secret and the ministers in question refuse to comment on it. Businessman and forwarder Henk Scheermeijer, alias Agent X-005, who works for the IDB, the Foreign Intelligence Service, gives us a glimpse of what is going on.
Earlier, in October 1983, when the Cold War had not yet ended, Scheermeijer was approached for what would later turn out to be one of the most dangerous jobs of his entire career as a secret agent. The Soviet Union was NATO's number one enemy, and a scientist who had defected to the West had left a cassette tape with top secret information in a hotel in Moscow. Agent X-005 was given the almost impossible task of smuggling that tape to the West.
