The island

Alexis Fielding is about to make a big decision in her life, and so she wants to know more about her mother, Sofia's, past. The only thing Sofia will tell her is that she spent her childhood in a small village in Crete before moving to London. When Alexis decides to travel to Crete, Sofia gives her a letter for Fotini, an old friend.

In Crete, Fotini tells Sofia what she has been hiding all her life: how her family was torn apart by misfortune, war and passion. Alexis discovers that her family's past is closely linked to the small island of Spinalonga, but also that some secrets still stand in their way.
