'In het teken van de ram'' is a masterfully constructed historical thriller set in Germany in the 1930s. According to some, the fascinating illusionist Erik Jan Hanussen trained the Führer to become an orator. This unusually exciting story for young people aged 13 and up (and adults!) leaves a lot to the imagination. The novel was published in 1996 by Davidsfonds-Infodok and was awarded the Knokke-Heist Prize for Best Youth Book. The book was translated into German, Italian, Spanish and Norwegian, and was also given the Eule des Monats in Germany. ''In het teken van de ram'' is now being reissued as an e-book. The themes it addresses - such as racism - are, unfortunately, still very topical.
