Loose

Loose is a compelling novel that examines the contradictions of modern life. Tom Naegels has written a highly personal book about unruly love and fragile convictions. Tom Naegels' grandfather slowly commits suicide in the hospital. The doctors let him do his thing. At the same time, Tom has a relationship with a Pakistani woman and reports on riots in Borgerhout as a journalist.
The three events make him realize that he has felt connected to people with whom he has nothing in common and to whom he has nothing to say. He notices that he understands less and less of his fellow citizens. Looking at his bitter, racist, ranting grandfather, once a warm socialist, he sees that he carries the same seeds within him.
