About the war

n the publicity surrounding the Gulf War, interest in the theoretical side of military operations has naturally increased. If there is one publication that has made a name for itself in military history and has formed a handbook for generations of officers, it is this posthumously published work by the 19th century Prussian general Von Clausewitz. In one of the most important theses contained in the book, namely that war is merely a continuation of politics by other means, it can still find its adherents today. In more than one respect, the work can also withstand the test of criticism today, although the effects of the weapons and thus the size of the battlefield have been dramatically increased.
