Work work work
Working is being busy with more or less effort to perform or complete something. This novel consists of five conversations - or perhaps they are meetings - in which work is central. A professor, a retired manager, a worker in the cultural sector, a promising researcher and a young writer try to spend their days meaningfully. Working conditions appear to have changed considerably in the twenty-first century. It is not immediately clear whether we work to live or live to work. Christophe Van Gerrewey (1982) is the author of the novels Op de hoogte (Up to date) and Trein met vertrek (Train with delay), and of the essay collection Over alles en voor iedereen (About everything and for everyone). He works as a professor of architectural theory at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne in Switzerland. Op de hoogte (Up to date) was awarded the Debut Prize, the European Union Prize for Literature and the Culture Prize for Literature of the Province of East Flanders.
